Kaleo was a Detective with the Honolulu Police Department who aided the Hawaii Five-0 Task Force with their investigation into the death of Detective Meka Hanamoa who happened to be the former partner of Hawaii Five-0 member, Detective Danny Williams.
However, it was later revealed that Kaleo was actually a mole working for the Ochoa cartel and after being exposed, Kaleo was subjected to a brutal beating by Danny before being arrested and jailed.
During Ke Kinohi, Steve told his sister that they busted a mole within HPD and he feared that they might've heard her digging into her parents' deaths and may have gone off to alert the wrong people.
In Kalele, Danny and Captain Vince Fryer went to visit Kaleo in regards to a diamond smuggling operation that had resulted in the arrest of Mary McGarrett, Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarret's sister.
While there, Kaleo revealed that he was doing life without parole as a result of being charged with Meka's murder. Kaleo also mentioned Grace Williams, Danny's daughter, causing Danny to vow that if Kaleo ever mentioned Grace again, then Danny would return and break every bone in Kaleo's body.
In Olelo Ho'Opa'I Make, Lieutenant Chin Ho Kelly was captured during the night and placed in the Halawa Correctional Facility with Kaleo attempting to kill Chin while also revealing that he was working for Paul Delano, whose brother, Frank died at Chin's hands in revenge for Chin's wife, Dr. Malia Waincroft dying at the hands of Frank's thugs.
Chin later took his revenge on Kaleo by breaking his neck while Paul Delano was eventually arrested and Chin was saved by Steve, Danny and Chin's cousin, Officer Kono Kalakaua who had launched a rescue operation after learning of Chin's disappearance.
