Laura Hills was Governor Pat Jameson's liaison. During the series, it was shown that she had feelings for Lieutenant Chin Ho Kelly, feelings that Chin didn't notice.
She began dropping hints to Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett by leaving him evidence from his father's tool box. Unfortunately, Jameson and crime boss, Wo Fat found out what was going on and killed Laura by placing a bomb underneath her car which killed Laura the very second she turned her car on.
Laura Hills' death was the start of events that led the H.P.D. to believe McGarrett was responsible before he goes on the run to prove his innocence, only for Wo Fat to kill Jameson, leaving McGarrett taking the fall for the two murders. However, a camera hidden in the governor's clock showed her confessing to having Laura killed because of her disloyalty before Wo Fat killed her, exonerating McGarrett. Laura Hills' murder was eventually avenged when McGarrett murdered Wo Fat.
